Faustson Tool Honored at Annual Industry Appreciation Award

Faustson Tool (www.faustson.com), a worldwide leader in five-axis manufacturing technology, was recently honored by the Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation (www.jeffco.org) at the 20th Annual Industry Appreciation Awards Breakfast. At the March 21st event, held at the Arvada Center for Arts & Humanities, Jeffco EDC presented Faustson with a Business Recognition Award for the company’s growth in primary employment and capital investment.

Faustson Tool was nominated for the award by the Colorado Association of Manufacturing and Technology, and was recognized based on the company’s substantial contributions to the community and its reputation for innovation and excellence. In 2012 Faustson Tool increased employment from 15 to 20 highly skilled employees, and added more than $850,000 in capital investment. Other organizations receiving Business Recognition Awards included Adaptive Innovations Corp., the Coleman Company, Datalogix, Rocky Mountain Bottle Company, SourceGas, and Sundyne Corp.

Faustson Tool has been a presence in the community for more than 30 years. Founded in 1981 by Paul and Alicia Svaldi, Faustson began as a small business in an 80-square-foot space, with one milling machine and two employees servicing off-load machine shops. The Svaldi’s keen insight into the future of high-precision manufacturing placed them on the cutting edge of manufacturing technology, where they have been ever since. Positive signs for travel industry as salaries rise again

After last month’s slight fall, travel job salaries rebounded strongly in April to rise by 1.44 per cent in the month, according to the latest Travel Salary Index from C&M Recruitment Consultancy (http://www.candm.co.uk/) and Chisholm & Moore Executive Recruitment (http://www.chisholmandmoore.co.uk/).

The figures, which were drawn from all new vacancies registered at the companies in the month, marked a recovery after the 1.93 per cent fall seen in March. The rise means that April’s figure of £27,172 is just £140 short of the £27,312 total seen in February 2013, which marked the index’s highest average since its records began in 2010.

The annual change in travel job salaries was even more pronounced with a 14.97 per cent rise, although the three-month average figures (which commonly produce a more reliable indicator of recent trends) showed gentler rises of 0.34 per cent in the month and 8.06 per cent in the year.

Commenting on the figures, Barbara Kolosinska, sales director at C&M Recruitment Consultancy, said: “This can only be seen as great news for travel employees. While there may not be as many jobs available now as before the recession, the positions that are vacant are offering a far improved salary. Anyone who manages to secure a new travel job in the near future should reap the benefits of the more generous salaries currently being provided by travel companies.”

More candidates, more jobs

In further positive news for the travel industry, the number of new vacancies increased in April by a huge 19.4 per cent, although this was still down annually, while the number of new candidates registering their interest in travel jobs rose by 3.35 per cent to reach its highest level in over a year.

“April’s rise in both new vacancies and new candidates can only be seen as a positive indicator for the travel industry. It still remains too early to state that the sector has recovered from the economic problems of recent years, but all signs point to the industry being on the right track,” said Ms Kolosinska.

Traditional soft furnishing company plans to create 100+ jobs in British knitting industry

Leicestershire-based Beulah Home is determined to help preserve and further restore a skilled area of the UK’s once-proud domestic knitting industry. Using traditional knitting machines combined with 100% hand-crafting techniques, Beulah Home produces a range of highest quality, luxury fine-gauge knitted cushions, throws and other home accessories from a variety of cottons, threads and yarns.

Cushion covers slip on as seamlessly as gloves, with no fussy zips or fastenings, enabling both sides to be displayed, with ‘exposed’ over-locking seams as another very distinctive feature.
