Win Perry Resources Scholarship Award

Perry Resources (http://www.perryresources.com), a division of David Perry Associates, has awarded its scholarship to Christine Barbieri, a graduating Shawnee High School senior.  Barbieri received a $1,000 check, and plans to attend James Madison University in Virginia.

Barbieri, of Medford, was selected from among the many students from the tri-county area who applied this year, and was chosen based on her grades/academic achievement, activities, community involvement, leadership, and an essay.  As a Shawnee student, she was a member of the Drama Club, the Italian Club and the National Honor Society.  She is also a dance student at Triplett Dance Academy in Medford.

This marked the eighth year in which Perry Resources has recognized an outstanding local student with a scholarship.  Michelle O’Donnell, human resources administrator for Harbor Linen in Gibbsboro, N.J., was the sole judge for this year’s scholarship.

“We’re not only looking for what the student has accomplished in high school, but what kind of potential they have for college and beyond,” said Jane Weiss, president of Perry Resources.  “Christine clearly has a bright future, and the ambition to make a difference in the future.  We’re very pleased to award her this scholarship.”

Barbieri, 18, plans to study dietetics and health assessment and promotion, with a possible minor in dance.
