They try to fight against children

When you work at home, any number of things can take the task. The pile of dirty clothes, the pot boiling on the stove and the sounds of children fighting are just some of the many distractions MOM can find a work at home. But somehow that last - children fighting - is, for me, the toughest of all the work at home distractions.

I guess that somewhere in my fantasy world the parents that I'd like to imagine that they don't fight with my children. They love each other more than they like to be in charge of the remote control. So the sound of children Dimes and bickering breaks rather than the peace of my home office, threat my vision of family harmony.

Of course, I have been a parent long enough to know that the children will fight and does not necessarily mean I am falling into work as a father. But struggling children are one of those things where your emotions can easily cloud your good sense. So it is not always easy to follow the advice in this article on how to deal with children fighting. In fact, I must confess that twice when writing an article (which advises parents to not struggle too much attention) I raised I referee a fight.

5 Creative cover letters that worked

Everyone knows that you must submit a great cover letter with your job application. But maybe you don't know that a great cover letter should not be written in the form "profe.". You don't even need to use Microsoft's "Clippy."A non-traditional cover letter can take the form of a list of quotes, a table or chart or an infographic. You don't even need to be a letter at all, if you succeed in getting the attention of a hiring manager.

Here are five examples of non-traditional cover letters (and some non-letters that landed people interviews):

1. the chart of accounts

Try the job ad requirements on the left and match them with your qualifications on the right, as in this example, which landed a recent grad a location in a major metropolitan newspaper.

You don't have to crack jokes (hereâ € ™ s an example of a more formal approach), but you should really make an effort to read the job ad and think about how your skills to make you a match.

Hiring managers say they like this format because it saves them time. If you've done the job for them shows how your skills to make you a fit, you've saved from having to untwist it.

2. "meet Charlie"

Charlie Drozdyk, author of "jobs that don't suck," wrote a cover letter, called "getting to know Charlie" where, instead of talking about work experience, said friends and family members, saying somewhat weird things about his personality. (Even girlfriend first Reported as saying, "it's cute, but I can't imagine dating him.")

Since the application had Drozdyk for entry-level copywriting work, where the good writing and a sense of humor is important, managed to get four interviews with this letter.

3. E-Stalking your target

In some industries (like advertising), people Google themselves all the time. So Alec Brownstein decided to reverse this to his advantage and buy ads that will appear next to the names of creative directors at top New York ad agencies.

For a total cost of $ 6 (ads for such an unpopular keywords are cheap!), Brownstein took a job.

4. Eating dog food company

In business, "eating your dog food" refers to a company that makes employees to use its own products (you know Apple employees cannot get away with using Android phones).

In your job search, eating dog food you dream of your company can make a killer applicant. Hanna Phan decided that he wanted to work for SlideRocket, a company that makes the presentation software (such as Powerpoint). Instead of a traditional application submission, did the cover letter to a presentation using SlideRocketâ € ™ s software. Explained tweeted to the CEO, and heard from him an hour later.

5. the imitation of dog food company

Chipotle does not make a product that you can use in your job search (well, unless you get hungry). But Bianca Cadloni wanted to work there. She built a website called "Will work for guacamole" that mimicked the look of a napkin Chipotle. The spot-on Visual branding, coupled with an aggressive Twitter campaign, got noticed.

While she does not land the job with the Chipotle, offered a practical marketing in a different service, which eventually turned into a job that pays. ("Thanks for recruiting me, not Chipotle," he wrote.)

Finally, if you decide to use social media as your cover letter, write a non-traditional letter or try any other trick is a judgment call. A start might be more receptive to get funny items in the mail, or displayed in their Office, in a gorilla costume? an established magazine may prefer a more traditional approach. As you do your research about the company, we will equip them to the right.

And remember: Wwhile seems like these non-traditional cover letters are everywhere, that is only because nobody ever writes a news story about how a simple, well-written letter scored one a job.

5 ways to make the most of your summer internship

Internships are a fantastic way to meet new people, learn about a chosen industry and discover what your dream job is really like. There are a number of things that you can do to make sure you’re getting the most out of your internship experience. Because if your friends are hanging out at the mall over the summer while you’re in an office cubicle somewhere, you’ll want to make sure the choice was worth it!

A word of warning: not all internships are created equal. Some will be very structured and, if you’re conscientious enough, it should be fairly easy to have an enjoyable and enriching experience. Others will have next to no structure, so it’s important you take the lead. The first two weeks of an internship are crucial in setting expectations and your trajectory for success or failure.

1. The basics

Dress appropriately.Watch your language.Don’t whine, complain or moan.Don’t hit on your cute co-worker or, worse, your manager.Do not get drunk at the welcome drinks (or happy hour).

2. An internship is a several-week interview
Many internships will offer some full-time jobs to recent graduates at the conclusion of the internship program. So if you think you want a permanent role in the company, your internship is the best time to prove to your managers that you’re the right choice. Even if you don’t get a job straight away, you can still build up contacts for later down the road.

3. Failing to plan is planning to fail
The internship will be over before you know it, so it’s important you plan exactly what you want to get out of it. By letting your manager know upfront what you want to do, it will be a lot easier to design a program tailored to your interests. Be firm, but not demanding; they might not give you much “real work,” but at least you can let them know which types of roles you want to oversee. Try to set up brief weekly catch-ups with your manager so you can update them on your progress or flag any concerns you have. Use this time to steer the direction of your internship if you feel it’s getting off track.

4. Be social, but not at your desk
Sure, eating out every day can be expensive and unhealthy, but imagine you’re the only one who brought lunch and you’re sitting in the lunchroom by yourself while everyone else is out. Next thing you know, everyone is calling your manager “the dolphin” and you have no idea why. Hanging out with your colleagues during non-work hours is an essential part of getting to know their personalities and how to best work around them, so don’t be the one left behind.. Also, don’t just hang out with your fellow interns. It’s great to make friends, but make sure you also spend time getting to know your managers and teammates, their backgrounds and the team culture as they’re ones you’ll be working with in the future. Being an intern, people will generally be more lenient when it comes to you asking questions and poking your head into different parts of the business.

5. Don’t come with problems; come with solutions
Instead of asking, “What should we do about XYZ?” say, “I think we should do [insert activity] for [insert project]. What do you think?” This will test your own analytical skills and also show your manager that you’re thinking about the problems, not just waiting for instructions to be dropped in your lap. People who follow instructions without adding value are easily dispensable. Always have a go at finding a solution before asking your manager; they want to work with people who can think on their own, not people they have to micromanage every step of the way.

How to survive in the workplace when managing your peers Gen Y

I thought "the boss" would be older, grayer and heavier than what? Think again. It turns out that Gen Yers are increasingly managing ... between them, in accordance with the ' Director 3.0: a Millennialâ € ™ s Guide to rewriting the rules of management. "this guide explains how the world of work is changing as most of us find ourselves managing classmates. But how is this affecting Millennium?

The news is likely to divide employees into two camps. A camp will be uncomfortable at the thought of made by someone who is the same age as them--or even (wait) younger. There is something unnerving about this. Even though the big bosses could be the butt of the joke with the water cooler, somehow it is much easier to accept direction and criticism (constructive or otherwise) from someone who is considered more ' desktop '.

On the other hand, because you are "peers", to make it easier to challenge bosses who is your age. Remember the episode of "friends" where Chandler finds himself ostracized by his former colleagues, once took the reins? This is what I fear old-school thinkers, if theyâ € ™ re this charge or taking orders.

Others, however, will celebrate that this surge in younger Admins heralds the start of a whole new way of working. Brad Karsh and Courtney Templin, authors of "Director 3.0," argue that younger bosses will shake up the traditional working environment in a number of positive ways.

If you think you're ready for an administrative position, consider these three key advantages:

--Millennial administrators encourages cooperation in the workplace.

--Rather than trying to assert authority over others, as a young boss, you're more likely to create a sociable and cooperative relationship in the Office and to promote an attitude of supportive team-playing.

--Making the Office a fun, engaging and creative place, you are bound to get better results from all. Plus, you don't have to miss the drinks after work for fear of cramping anyone's style.

--Younger Admins are likely to support flexible work environments. Just like the rest of Gen Y and your classmates, you've grown up texting, Tweeting, updating and posting. You're always connected and know that you're sometimes more productive at your kitchen table than in the Office. So chances are, you'll be much more open to the idea of staff working elsewhere and at different times of the day. Do you understand how important it is for people to work flexibly, in order to make employees happier and more productive.

--Gen Y managers embrace new technologies and working methods. As an administrator, you're just as millennial up-to-speed with technology with those who work for you. So it's more likely you'll be eager to embrace everything from Skype to group texting, when it comes to communicating with the Office. Of course, managers and employees need to see each other from time to time, but at least you know that there is no risk of the acts as a brake when you suggest cutting a video call and not a long day traveling to and from appointments elsewhere.

In short, younger managers for a more flexible and more creative work life, so embrace change! Better yet, go for posts might otherwise have thought too senior, because if you can make it work, you deserve the job. Managing others is always going to present a number of challenges, regardless of age or stage you are in, but one thing is certain: changing the face of management. It younger and younger.

Older workers hit by the recession will continue to struggle

While the nation's economy is on the mend after the great recession of 2008, many people who lost their jobs at age 50 and older are expected to fight for the rest of their lives.

The average person who loses a job after age 50 is expected to have an income 18 percent lower than people who kept their jobs, according to a survey by the retirement Research Center at Boston College.

In addition, the retirement years are expected to be difficult for those who have lost their jobs because pension wealth will be 20 percent less on average than for people who held the top jobs. And financial assets, such as retirement savings, would be about 30 percent smaller, researchers Matthew Rutledge, Natalia Orlova and Anthony Webb.

That could have implications for the nation's debate on deficit reduction over the next few years. The survey was made with a grant from the social security administration.

About 3.2 million people over the age of 50 were unemployed at the peak of the recession and, taking into account the ongoing economic pressure, are unlikely to tolerate the proposed cuts in social security and Medicare.

Even people who held jobs in the recession, hit by the sharp declines in home values and retirement savings, although those who resisted the urge to bolt from the blue a dipping stock funds in 401 (k) s and Iras probably regained what I originally lost. The stock market has hit new highs recently--restoration of wealth to those who held up investment. Those who dumped stock funds in a panic and have quit saving money market funds and savings accounts will likely recover the amount they had in 2007.

For those who have lost their jobs, with savings will be even more difficult.

In December 2009, the unemployment rate for older workers was 7.2 percent. At the peak of the recession, 3.2 million were out of jobs. Unlike previous recessions, when older workers tended to keep jobs, this recession that heavy price for people of all ages, while the length of unemployment was higher among older people, beating a record of 40 weeks in mid-2011.

"Workers who spend a long time away from jobs, particularly those approaching old age, skill atrophy and decrease risk of health, and may be difficult to persuade employers to hire them," the researchers said.

To assess the long-term effect of elderly workers who were unemployed in the recent recession, the researchers analyzed data for people who have lost their jobs in past recessions. Focused on how individuals who went through massive layoffs went 10 years later, and compared with those who had not lost the job. The sample of over 6,000 people who came from the Federal Government in the health and retirement study.

"The older employees will metatopismenoys end up significantly worse off than those who had lost their jobs," said the researchers. They noted that the batch job cutting that took place in the great recession would mean the "highest quality" workers came to lose jobs in 2009-10 compared with the other recessions when not dive as deep cuts in the workforce.

Those laid off in previous recessions, tended to be more vulnerable than the authority from other employees before the layoff. Sports nutrition expands career menu

The demand for qualified sports dietitians and nutritionists is rapidly expanding as more high schools, colleges, professional teams and individual pro athletes incorporate nutrition into their training programs. The need is so great, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics now offers board certification in sports dietetics.

Depending on your timetable, you can take the more formal route to becoming a registered dietitian, or take workshops or online courses to add sports nutrition consulting to a personal trainer or fitness instructor business.

Practitioner Julie Burns has used her training to land clients like the Chicago Blackhawks, Bears, White Sox and Bulls, as well as individual elite athletes from around the globe. Former Baylor University tennis player, Page Love uses her credentials to write for magazines, consult athletes on the ATP and WTA tennis tours, work with teams like the Atlanta Braves and speak at sports conferences.

Multiple responsibilities

Sports nutritionists and dietitians work with athletes in a variety of ways. They review and assess an athlete's current eating habits and create healthier diets based on training and game-day needs.

"You need to know what's in different foods and how they affect the body," said Burns, owner of SportFuel sports Nutrition in Western Springs. Burns has expanded her knowledge base to include exercise physiology and an understanding of the power of natural foods like sweet potatoes and coconut water.

"Many athletes don't realize what a strong performance edge food is until they meet with a sports dietitian and get on a correct diet," she says.

While certified nutritionists can help local weekend warriors improve their diets, registered dietitians who have specific training in sports nutrition land the big professional clients. The road to a career as an elite sports nutritionist begins with a college degree in nutrition, followed by a nine-month internship, then certification as a registered dietitian nutritionist.

"After you earn your degree, ask to be put into the sport nutrition rotation during your internship," recommends Love, owner of Nutrifit Sport Therapy in Atlanta. "Many larger universities have sports dieticians on staff, and you can do your internship at or near your school."

Burns recommends taking continuing education courses once you graduate to increase your chance of working with pro athletes and teams.

"I get tons of calls and emails from people saying, 'I want to be a sports nutritionist. I want to work with athletes,'" she said. "I tell them to go get your certification as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, then supplement that by learning about exercise physiology, holistic eating, organics and functional nutrition. If I didn't have RDN credentials, I would not have gotten my foot in the door with professional teams and athletes, but you need to expand on that."

If you can‿t commit to a four-year degree, you can earn an associate‿s degree and become a dietetic technician. If even that‿s too much, you can earn nutrition certification online or through seminars or workshops. These nutritionists are far less trained and regulated than dietitians, but many personal trainers and fitness instructors add nutrition to their skill-set. Trainers are limited by dietetics licensure laws, however, as to what individual nutrition guidelines and menus they can give clients, said Love.

Dietitians and nutritionists earned median pay of $53,250 in 2010, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.* Registered dietitians nutritionists earn much more than certified nutritionists, with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics reporting 2009 salaries of RDNs with five years or less experience at approximately $51,000 to $62,000, while RDNs with management and business practices earning incomes of $85,000 to $88,000.

To dating site eHarmony matches you with a task?

Dear JOYCE: My Daughter met her husband on eHarmony, and so far their marriage has worked out great. Now, I've read that eHarmony is working on starting a career site that employs the same principles with the dating site late next year. What is your opinion about this job matching idea working out and for jobseekers? --D.A.A.

EHarmony has helped people to find a date for years. Already in the matchmaking business, now the company wants to help people to find a job, bringing the values of employers for job applicants for a new website that uses many of the same personality assessment tools as a site for romance.

The question is: will the inventory matching personality really work for the private workplace? The recruitment industry opinion varies from "maybe" to "probably not" in "no way."

Besides views espoused by cheering troops, eHarmony found no rousing affirmations that the approach based on matching software true values of the applicant with a company will have greater appeal to employers than those that arose during the scheduled interviews, other workplaces or online applications.

The forecaster giving bigger yields are Joel Cheesman, an experienced hiring pro who blogs on the website JobScore.com. In a blog that gently titled "3 reasons why eHarmony of matching job will Suck", Cheesman says:

1) no success Story. It names several companies that had tried to establish job matching services but is now functioning.

2) core competency Not. Large companies with dense traffic have hustled to open labour market inroads for years. Remember eBay's Kijiji or MySpace jobs? Don't make a dent in Craigslist.

3) intake is not dating. Incentive to fill out a questionnaire 29-point works if you're hoping to find true love. Doesn't work so well with jobs. For matching to succeed, Webdesigner and his employer, must fill out a large set of data. Only the most desperate job seekers will do this, and employers don't want to fill out lengthy forms only to access these candidates.

In addition, I will add another factor that could dim prospects for promotion of eHarmony to enter the labour market: participation costs. Modern CVS are accustomed from fees paid by an employer for work links.

Dear JOYCE: employers must provide paid vacation time? How much time? --T. J.

Shockingly, no. In fact, the United States is the only advanced economy that does not guarantee workers paid vacation anytime, says a new study. Even so, 77 percent of u.s. workers are getting paid vacation time--an average of 13 days per year. Read the entire study "No-vacation nation Revisited" by the Center for economic and policy research.

Dear JOYCE: my brother was here over the weekend. He told me that he had just landed a new job with a start-up company that includes "getting home with technique series." the title is "new media gurus." What do you think really do? --J.J.

Probably the title describes a technical Executive in digital media. Or a marketing whiz could use the same title. Fanciful, funky products that replace the traditional titles are not common, but some organizations use it to suggest the company culture. Examples: problem wrangler, ninja, Ambassador communications sales, marketing rockstar, head of marketing and Director of money.

Dear JOYCE: I'm a get-to-the-point with the kind of person. I don't like to read the page-long paragraphs and books and ride. But I know that I need help to get up to speed on all the new technology and other things in the world to look for a job. Where do I start? --L.U.T.

Try a short new book with many updated ideas and an unforgettable title: "Cut the crap, get a job! A new job search process for a new era, "by Dana Manciagli, a veteran hiring manager for multi-national companies, including Microsoft, IBM and Kodak. Visit the author's website, danamanciagli.com for a personal meetup.

How to use Google to land a better job

The Internet is one of the greatest achievements of humanity. But since cultivated an unmanageable size, uses to hunt for jobs are incredibly difficult for any WEBDESIGNER. A quick Google search for "jobs in PR" will give you results from 700,000 in well under one second! Where to even start? Fortunately, there are a few little tricks and tools out there that can help you find the results you are looking for in fact on Google:

Logical search operators

Search operator is basically an entire word, phrase or symbol that helps users to increase the effectiveness of their search. Here are useful for job hunters: operators

--The Site: this operator specifies a keyword or phrase must appear at least once on the page. You can also use it to search for specific words or phrases in selected website. For example, "the Royal family website: http://www.bbc.co.uk."

--Minus: Use a minus sign to remove particular phrases or websites from your search. If you continue to receive the workplace generally in your results, use search negative sign as follows: "PR jobs-http://www.randomjobsite.com." This will eliminate any results from, or containing, that particular URL.

--Inurl: this operator specifies that a specific keyword or phrase is to be found in the URL to display in the search results. So if you want to work for a digital company, you could try the "inurl: digital service careers."

--Asterisk: the asterisk is known as the wildcard of Google and comes in handy if you are not completely sure about what kind of job you want. For example, to search for a wide range of entry level jobs in many areas, the search for "entry level * jobs." Google will fill in the gap for you.

Here is a complete list of logical operators.

Google Local

If you try to limit your search to a specific area, go to https://local.google.com and type the location where you want to search in the bar to the left.

Once this is done, enter the type of business you are looking for (e.g. "restaurant" or "school"). Google will then fill the map with the names, addresses and websites for all local results. Very convenient, eh?

Search strategies

If you know which company you want to work on but you are not sure whether they have available, how do you make them your resume without having to send a generic email address jobs?

Just use a simple Google search on the company name and position of person ideally will deliver your resume to. For example, you can search for "Coca Cola recruiting administrator. U.K." More often than not, the first results will include a LinkedIn profile or profile (saves you having to trawl through their website). Both can be used to get in touch about possible vacancies.

This technique is simple (and quite obvious), but it is woefully underused by promising job hunters. It really helps to avoid the middleman.

Google Alerts

Another handy Google's tools for those who want to be one step ahead of fellow applicants is Google Alerts.

Enter a specific term that you are interested in, such as "PR career in London", and a couple of obvious preferences. Whenever this phrase that appears on the Internet and matches your preferences, you will be sent an email--and there is no limit to the number of entries that can be configured. It's so simple (and useful)!

Talking money with Mom

My mother-in-law died a couple of years ago after a very short bout with cancer. On her deathbed, she whispered that we shouldn't give away her bedroom furniture without checking under the drawers. After the funeral, we started the process of cleaning out the house. Sure enough, taped on the bottom side of the dresser drawers was more than $2,000 in small bills.

My mother-in-law was a child of the Depression, and a top-notch retirement planning expert -- before anybody ever coined the phrase. She knew how to save money, and her retirement was comfortable. But that didn't stop her from hiding cash -- just in case. My mother-in-law also was unwilling to talk about her money. Personally, I would have found it easier to ask her about her sex life than to ask her about her finances. So, I found it a little surprising when Fidelity Investments released a study -- just in time for Mother's Day -- reporting that mothers are easier to talk to about money than dads.

The study found that considerably more moms reported having had deep discussions with their adult children about:

Estate planning or wills (79 percent of mothers vs. 69 percent of fathers).Savings and investments (64 percent vs. 54 percent).Health and long-term care topics (66 percent vs. 56 percent).Their ability to pay for living expenses in retirement (70 percent vs. 55 percent).

The Fidelity study concluded that adult children who want to understand their parents' financial situations should start the conversation by talking to Mom. It sounds like a good strategy, but it wouldn't have worked in my family.

A man leaves a well paid (ish) work to try your hand at making money online instead!

The man, Tim Campbell, hard-working, dedicated employee at the technology company based in Cambridge, decided one day to pack it in and try to follow a different path instead.

The decision is not based on a whim, it was carefully considered and thought out choice that after several weeks of deliberation and weighing options. Tim have worked in their jobs for a period of 3 years and was earning decent money while getting to travel to various foreign locations as part of their work day to day. Although it was hard work, (what a job isn't?) this is a boring, mundane Office job, which involves being tied to a desk all day, every day.

So what would make someone in a situation such as this, especially in these times of economic and financial uncertainty, handed in their notice and left uncertain, unknown world of self-employment? Especially in somewhat murky world of making money online?

In his own words:

"I had a nagging feeling that it is not fulfilling my potential. I know that this may sound egotistical, but I felt like I was entering the best days of your life and all your efforts and energy in support of the objectives of others. I felt that if I could channel the same energy and the same effort into my own goals, then I had a good chance of success. I also felt that it attributed to yourself to at least try. I don't want to wake up in 40 years and wonder "what if?" this is not a decision I took lightly but I felt that it was probably in the best position ever will be to give it a go, so I am! "

Then some financial calculations to work out how long it could survive without earning income and the placement of several circumstances on site to start earning some income from a party, he took the plunge and handed in his notice to their employers and has not looked back.

Is now over 2 months from her last day of full-time work and at the beginning of my adventure into the unknown. You can read about different methods, he has tried (successful and unsuccessful) to bring money to his website http://www.cashninja.co.uk (you never know, you may find some of them useful myself) and you can read sporadic updates on his progress on his blog http://www.cashninja.co.uk/blog/

    Jobs For Felons

"Sorry, we don't hire FELONS!" Finding employment after being released from prison can be one of the most difficult tasks a felon faces. No one wants to hire you but parole terms require you to have a job or go back to jail. Even if you do not have parole requirements, you have to support yourself and that means you must face the question on every job applicatrion: "Have you ever been convicted of a felony?" Over 80% of all employers use some form of background check today which greatly limits the job paths available to convicted felons and even those convicted of misdemeanors. Just because someone has a felony conviction does not necessarily make him or her a bad person. Unfortunately, most employers do not understand this distinction.

There are many reasons, many valid reasons, someone can be convicted of a crime which can even result from them standing up for their rights or being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Many felony convictions are for non-violent offenses like failure to pay taxes, or refusing to testify against a friend, and similar offenses that are hardly crimes against humanity. Yet these poor souls are treated no differently from mass murders when it comes to finding jobs. This guide will help ex-cons and their families by providing important information you can use to find employment plus it explains background checks, how to deal with a conviction during an interview and much more that will help you after your release from jail or prison. Steve Jobs

Based on more than forty interviews with Jobs conducted over two years—as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues—Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.

At a time when America is seeking ways to sustain its innovative edge, and when societies around the world are trying to build digital-age economies, Jobs stands as the ultimate icon of inventiveness and applied imagination. He knew that the best way to create value in the twenty-first century was to connect creativity with technology. He built a company where leaps of the imagination were combined with remarkable feats of engineering.

Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published. He put nothing off-limits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. And Jobs speaks candidly, sometimes brutally so, about the people he worked with and competed against. His friends, foes, and colleagues provide an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and the innovative products that resulted.

Driven by demons, Jobs could drive those around him to fury and despair. But his personality and products were interrelated, just as Apple’s hardware and software tended to be, as if part of an integrated system. His tale is instructive and cautionary, filled with lessons about innovation, character, leadership, and values.
