Use with HistoriCorps to work in some of the last places in the United States.



Term of three months duration from July to September (exact dates TBD). Opportunity to work in some of the last places in the United States. The Mission of the ' HistoriCorps is to save and maintain historic sites for public benefit through partnerships that foster public participation, participating volunteers and provide training and education.


Specifically, HistoriCorps:

Saves historic buildingsTeaches Palace of volunteers skillsAdvances the use of green technologies in historical buildingsEncourages of volunteering in public lands. Projects of ' HistoriCorps 2013 will be restore / rehabilitate multiple historical record, stone, adobe and frame buildings that were originally used as Ranger, guard stations stations, cow camps and cabins of mining. The buildings are all remotely in spectacular public lands of the United States (USFS BLM, NPS, State lands). Most projects are located in the Rocky Mountains, however the crew leader will ask to travel anywhere in the United States. While most are accessible by high clearance vehicles, some require a walking access to the sites.

Team leaders will be:

Working with, provide training for and coordinated projects for volunteers;Respect and promote work safety standards;Plan, purchase and prepare meals for volunteers;Serve as liaison between the teams and project supervisor;They reside in the site of primitive accommodation;Help with the fulfillment of the natural and cultural resources.

Required skills and qualifications:

A desire to work long hours in variable time;Able to live and work in a remote and/or adjustment of off piste (i.e. tents) for 10 days at a time; Valid driver's license and a good driving record;A basic knowledge of hand tools and trades of the construction;Strong communication and conflict resolution skills, enjoy teaching others about historic preservation techniques;Work in groups;You can cook meals for large groups (8-18 persons at the same time).

The preferred candidate will be:

They possess intermediate building skills of trade, record of ideal work experience;Be first aid or First response certificate (partial reimbursement by HistoriCorps upon receipt of the certificate) have previous leadership experience that sends teams ideally in remote configuration or off-piste.
