About the Role:
At McAfee, interns have an opportunity to be involved in many aspects of business development, implementation and program activities. As such, all interns share responsibilities for administrative tasks which keep the office running smoothly and ensure top quality program support. In a busy professional setting, candidates must be good team players, know how to prioritize tasks and manage their time well. The Fed IC Professional Services Intern will be part of a team working to work within the Professional Services organization to get a taste of McAfee culture as well as understand MFE products and services and assist in the deployment, configuration and troubleshooting of these products. The goal of this Intern training program is to establish a fundamental business foundation in these key areas:
-Personal Development
-Technology Training
-Team-based relationships including mentorship
As part of the personal development efforts within the program, the selected interns will achieve the following:
-Develop planning, organizational and time management skills.
-Increase knowledge of computer skills and technology.
-Learn campaign management and delivery.
-Develop team-based work competencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities under the program may include and are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain an existing test environment used for running McAfee products on Windows and Linux
- Automating collection, consolidation and presentation of results in the test environment, on multiple platforms
- Testing Intel and McAfee hardware, and McAfee products to determining their value in the Federal Intel environment and presenting the findings AND/OR suggesting changes to improve their performance.
- Perform various operational security duties such as vulnerability testing, security log monitoring, access request provisioning, enterprise change review, security systems maintenance
- Implement and support multiple security products being deployed. Assisting configuration, development and deployment of tools focused on Patch Management, Vulnerability Testing, SIEM, Database Activity Monitoring, Encryption, and others as required.
Qualifications
Required Experience/Skills & Education:
Candidates should be working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering. Prior experience through internships is a plus. Ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in information security environment:
- Experience with both Microsoft Windows and various UNIX operating systems
- Familiarity with vulnerability and patch management for Windows and UNIX operating systems
- Familiarity with databases including Microsoft SQL server, Oracle and Access databases
- Willingness to develop skills in system administration tasks for McAfee ePO server, and other McAfee security products
- Strong presentation and verbal communication skills
- Superior detailed writing skills
